Micaela is the human behind Spanglish. And if anybody is further interested, I will try to summarize who-I-am below:

I was born on what I always believed was an odd date: December 26th. I felt 50% special about it, and 50% cursed. I remember curiosity always led my way - I always felt curious about other languages, flavors, ways of living, and even other people’s lives (going to the airport and hearing accents, seeing suitcases passing by, and different complexions was entertainment itself). I was so-not-ready to decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my life when I was 17, but I thought that pursuing a career in tourism & hospitality would align the most with everything I enjoyed or thought I could be good at.

I worked many years in hospitality and sales, and everywhere I go, and anything I do, is still framed by how the hotel life shaped me: to be professional, to be open-minded, and to not forget that smiling is a great attribute and can get things done.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and currently living where I believe is the warmest place on earth, Miami, Florida, - And while there isn’t much I miss, I still search for glimpses of my culture in Miami: the unpopular good restaurants, la "sobremesa", doing groceries in more than one supermarket (and instead, finding local markets) and hear stories shared by random strangers.

To me, Spanglish started as a photographic archive and portfolio, to keep a visual track of my travel experiences, food that I want to remember in case I forget, the sun setting, and painting the sky. Because I wish sunsets could last more than 6 minutes.

My interest in food and culture, in languages, and how things are made, kept and keeps growing. My ongoing curiosity led me to always be well-prepared before traveling: by reading as much as I can about a destination before arriving, figuring out what the best restaurant to try everywhere I go, what to see, when is best to go, and of course, where I can catch the best sunset.

Spanglish is the documentation of everything I see passing by - or that actually, everything I pass through myself.

Feel free to join me, get inspired by my own handpicked recommendations for restaurants, things to do, travel itineraries, and random photo dumps - to see, feel, and taste the world as I do.

Because that’s a fact: the world is marvelous.
